What is Osteopathy?
To become Osteopaths Adam and Katherine completed a four year degree course and are by law registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC).The course is similar to a medical degree but places an emphasis on anatomy and musculo-skeletal conditions and includes more than 1,000 hours of training in Osteopathic technique.
Osteopathy is a system of healthcare which uses a hands-on methodology in the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions [For more info on treatment, see our 'What to Expect' page]. It is a holistic approach aiming to improve function of the body through the structure. A commonly used analogy to best describe is to think of a car with a flat tyre. Driving on a flat tyre will affect the handling of the car (your stability on walking), fuel consumption (your energy levels) and will put strain on the rest of the car which can lead to further problems elsewhere (such as a neck pain progressing to a headache).
